Why Tubing
Tubing stands out as a winter activity that uniquely combines ease and accessibility with sheer fun, making it an ideal choice for individuals and families of all fitness levels. Unlike many snow sports that demand specific skills or a high level of athleticism, tubing requires no special training, allowing everyone from young children to seniors to participate with equal enthusiasm. It's this simplicity and safety that make it an exceptionally family-friendly activity, offering a delightful experience that's as engaging for adults as it is for kids
Snoqualmie Pass: Tubing Destination
There just aren’t many places to go tubing where you get a long safe run. At the resort Summit at Snoqualmie, they have it figured out. There are nice lanes that keep you on track, there is a magic carpet (escalator) to bring you back up the hill. You could head out and tube on your own on some random hill, but the experience doesn’t compare.
Safety First: Tubing Tips and Tricks
Preparation: You are going to need to be paying attention to the weather, the clothing and gear play a significant role in how much fun everyone will have. If the temp is above 32 and sunny, you’ll have a blast, bring sunglasses for sure. If it’s above 32 and wet, your gear will only keep you dry for a little while, so have a few layers and even spare gloves. If it’s cold, like 20 or below, that’s a whole other level of prepared. You’ll need face masks, scarves, hand and toe warmers, think extreme. The worst thing that can happen is someone from the group ends up wet and cold and cuts the day short!
Safety Gear: Ski helmets are a must, this is a very safe activity but you can still fall and the snow can be hard. Treat it like you’re going to crash, even though you probably won’t.
Making the Most of Your Tubing Adventure
Night Tubing: Experience the thrill under the lights for a different ambiance. Most Friday/Saturday nights all winter they are open until 7pm or 9pm depending, and the lights come on after about 4pm. They have beautiful colored lights at times, a must do.
Group Events: Need a place to throw a group event like a work party? This could be perfect. Get out with all your friends and play in the snow together and crash at Commonwealth or Dru Bru afterward for a hangout.
Personal Recommendations
The park is frequently sold out even a month or more in advance, so reserve early and often online. Grab yourself tickets for a couple times each winter and hope you get lucky with a good weather day!
Conclusion
Tubing at Snoqualmie Pass is super fun for the whole family or a big friend group, or just a couple wanting to go play where most of the activity is handled for you. It’s not expensive (about $45 for regular tickets), and unlimited season pass holders get $20 off.
